It was a night that amazing women were being honored and recognized in their works, The 1st ever women’s awards show in Malaysia – Bella Awards 2013 was successfully held at The Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Sat, 2nd Mar 2013.
An idea that came from ntv7, Malaysia’s feel good channel’s award-winning women’s talkshow, Bella, the awards show boast a fabulous theme – ‘She Sparkles’ – which carries a strong message that women are like previous gems that sparkle from the inside out with their significant and outstanding contributions made to the society.
Through this inaugural awards show, ntv7 aims to inspire women not only with its content but its activations including ‘Bella She Sparkles Getaway’ – a workshop designed to engage and empower women from all walks of like. Held over 2 days, the workshop aims to inspire and give confidence to women to kick start their way towards improving themselves. Professional and renowned speakers were invited to share and talk about topics concerning women together with interactive activities. The Bella Awards ‘Bella Official Correspondent’ search was also created to open up opportunities for ladies who aspire to be the next host in Malaysia. Scouting sessions were carried out in various locations since December 2012. 19-year-old Mass Communication student Ashley Chan was recently named the winner of this search who gets to fulfill her dreams as becoming a host.
‘It is an honour for ntv7 to organize the country’s 1st ever women’s awards show with hopes to further inspire and bring women to the forefront in-conjunction with International Women’s Day,’ said Airin Zainul, Group General Manager of ntv7 & 8TV.
‘With the birth of this awards show, ntv7 hits a key milestone that signifies growth of the channel since its humble beginnings in 1998. We hope to be able to continue to be Malaysia’s preferred channel,’ Airin added.
With a total of five International superstars including Ronan Keating, Gary Chow, Rossa, Marcell Siahaan, and Maliq & D’Essentials, the awards ceremony was graced by some of the country’s renowned celebrities and personalities.
Local artistes Mizz Nina, Joe Flizzow, Darren Ashley, and The Impatient Sisters heated up the centre stage of Bella Awards with stunning performances lined-up for that special night.
The red ‘Sparkle’ carpet were co-hosted by one of the country’s top host, Nazrudin Rahman and ‘Bella Official Correspondent’ Ashley Chan.
'Fashion', a subject close to the hearts of women, will also be featured as a special segment in Bella Awards 2013 called 'Fashion Rocks' featuring fashion superstar Datuk Ridzuan Radziwill and rising star Fizi Woo. They had parade 12 of their collection at the Bella Awards 2013 runway.
Hans Isaac, Daphne Iking, Elaine Daly, and Vanessa Chong were the host of the awards show. They had done the job well.
The award winners are;
Bella Creative Award – Low Ngai Yuen
Bella Style Award – Gillian Hung
Bella Beautiful Award – Dr. Premitha Damodaran
Bella Business Award – Dato’ Rosaline Ganendra
Bella Heart Award – Dato’ Ruby Khong
Bella On-Stage Award (Public voting) – Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza
Bella Sports Award (Public voting) – Cheong Jun Hoong
Bella Radio Award (Public voting) – Fara Fauzana
Dato’ Ruby Khong has also been honored the highest award that night – ‘The Bella Award’.
Meanwhile, Dato Jimmy Choo was recognized for his contributions, and titles ‘Bella Mars Award’ that night. Unfortunately Dato Jimmy Choo was at Paris fashion show that night and couldn't make it to the Awards.
Bella Awards is supported and endorsed by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development. The awards show is sponsored by Hai-O Group, a leading multi-level marketing, manufacturer and wholesaler of traditional herbal and pharmaceutical products, as the main sponsor.
