Call
me a Japanese food sucker. From sashimi to tempura, soba to bento, you named it
I love it! I have been travelling to Japan for a few times, and I am addicted
to authentic Japanese cuisine. Back in Malaysia, I treasure every authentic
Japanese restaurant because there are not many good ones here. But I can tell you that one of it is the
Genji Japanese Restaurant at Hilton Petaling Jaya Hotel.
Thanks
to Sidney, I had a fantastic dinner at Genji Japanese Restaurant, Hilton
Petaling Jaya Hotel 2 weeks ago. It was a Friday evening where many was
enjoying their happy hour in the bar and we enjoying our authentic Japanese
cuisine in the newly revitalized Genji Japanese Restaurant.
I
like the newly revamped Genji Japanese Restaurant for its serene and bright
ambience, very relaxing dining there. The new menu has everything Japanese
cuisine should have; let’s look at some of them below ok.
Appetizer
– Shirao Wasabi + Kaki Tempura + Unagi Tama
The
appetizer trio includes wasabi-marinated white baits, deep-fried oyster and deep-fried
eel in Japanese omelet. As a seafood lover, I like the appetizer a lot. The
chef has creatively prepared the appetizer in different tasting sensation.
Salad
– Seafood Salad
The
seafood salad has lots of vegetables with fresh seafood and sashimi, served with
goma dressing. I especially love their goma sauce which is very delicious and taste
uniquely Japanese. The chef made all the sauces in house hence you can’t find
the same authentic taste elsewhere.
Sashimi
– Premium Sashimi Moriawase Set
We
all Wow when the assorted sashimi boat was served. The assorted sashimi was
well cut into thick slices. Dipped in wasami and soy sauce, it was simply the
most original and yummilicious Japanese dish that I enjoyed that night. The
best part is all Genji’s Sashimi was very fresh, as I know they import them from
Japan and Norway (Salmon) very frequent.
Soup
– Dobin Mushi
It
was my first time trying the dobin mushi soup which is served in a teapot and
teacup. I tried it in some Chinese restaurant before but not Japanese restaurant. To enjoy
Dobin Mushi soup to max, it’s advised to squeeze the half pc of lime juice into
the soup before serving. Surprisingly it is not sour at all but taste fresh and
clear.
Sushi
– Jumbo Ebi Ura Maki
Maki
is loved by many including me. Genji’s signature Jumbo Ebi Ura Maki is a
must-have when you visit here as the portion is big with a lot of ingredients
such as fish roe, salad and cucumber.
Trio
Combo – Sashimi of Salmon, tuna and sea beam
Genji’s trio combo is a must-have when you are here because
you could enjoy delectable raw Sashimi of Salmon, tuna and sea beam plus lightly grilled cod on a bed of
garlic fried rice, sashimi wrapped in seaweed and served on a bed of potato
salad in just one dish.
Rice – Scallop fried rice
A premium fried rice where you could aspect a chunks of scallops along
with each bite of the fried rice.
Dessert - Genji
Combo
In the Genji Combo you
could find fresh fruits, matcha ice cream cake and hot red bean soup with glutinous
rice ball. The dessert taste not too sweet and I especially love the matcha ice
cream cake.
