Standing
head and shoulders above its contemporaries is Starhill Gallery’s most
notorious restaurant – Shook! Since its opening in 2005, Feast Village’s most
ethnically diverse restaurant has continued to captivate guests with its World
Class elegance and fine dining finesse.
Part
of the restaurants award-winning allure is its innovative open-kitchen concept,
a first of its kind in Malaysia, for which it is renowed. Culturally dynamic
delicacies capture the very best of Malaysia’s culinary scene with its fusion
of Chinese, Japanese, South-East Asian and contemporary Western influences.
Shook!
is helmed by the acclaimed Executive Chef Richard Sawyer. Hailing from England,
Chef Richard brings with him 26 years of culinary experiences. His
distinguished career has taken him across Europe, the United States as well as
Asia.
Shook!’s
intimate ambience of sparkling wine glasses, cascading water features, unique Kasbah
seating areas and low key lighting is akin to its motto of ‘dining without
borders’ whereby guests are able to watch the chef as they perform in action.
Since
its opening, Shook! is reputed for attracting VIP guests and celebrity faces,
confirmed by its private function rooms which are furnished by Armani/Casa to
greet guests in Rothschild wine collections from 1945 to 2000.
Shook!
was recently awarded Gold in the Home Grown category by The Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s
Tourism Awards 2014 in a ceremony which identifies and rewards the crème-de-la-crème
if the business industry. Shook! was praised for its creative cooking and
culinary excellence and for enhancing the reputation of Kuala Lumpur as a
culinary destination of choice.
This
November, Shook! is launching the A La Carte Menu which is only available for a
week in conjunction with A Journey through Time IX, Asia’s premier watch and
jewellery showcase featuring over 125 brands from around the world from 20th
Nov till 27th Nov 2015. Those who appreciate the finer things in
life must opt to check out the special A
La Carte Menu.
Appetizer
Seared Maine Sea
Scallop (RM 68)
Saffron Infused cauliflower
mousseline, watercress, hazelnut vinaigrette
The
ingredients bring out the authenticity of the gigantic scallop.
Beetroot Cured Salmon
(RM 58)
Dill Crème Fraiche,
toasted fennel seeds, watercress, lemon zest
This
is no doubt an extraordinary appetizer. Zest from the thinly sliced lemon peel,
every little bite of the Ruby-like salmon is gleefully satisfying.
Other
appetizer includes;
Poached Boston
Lobster (RM 188)
New Potatoes, truffle
mayonnaise, caviar, mixed leaf salad
Pressed Poached Goose
Liver (RM 88)
Wild berry compote,
tarragon and mango dressing, toasted brioche
After
building up excitement for the main attraction, let’s look into the main
course.
Main Course
Roasted Australian
Lamb Loin, Muesli and Mint Crust (RM 168)
honey, rosemary, edamame
puree, baked stuffed tomato, balsamic fig glaze
I
like the wonderful flavours of this main. The incredibly light but immensely flavor
roasted Lamb Loin is soft on the inside but crispy on the outside. The lamb
loin proved to be enjoyable till the last bite.
Baked Fillet of Cod
(RM 138)
Herb risotto, green
asparagus, Australian mussles, saffron cream
The
dish was meticulously prepared by Executive Chef Richard Sawyer. The baked cod served
with herb risotto that has a buttery texture is the best choice for seafood
lover.
The
other main courses available include;
Roast Australian Beef
Tenderloin (RM 188)
Fresh sucrine, baby
turnips, shallots, peppercorn sauce
Slow Braised
Australian Short Rib (RM 198)
White cannellini bean
puree, crisp squash, caramelized roasted beetroot
Dessert
Red Velvet
Raspberry Mousse,
Fresh Berries, Light Meringue
The
red velvet is not only an eye candy but it taste fantastic too. The chef
suggested us to mix around the different texture to get different sensation in
each and every bite. A truly delectable delights to end the night.
With
the tunes of stringed instrument and live band playing in the background, the
little touches certainly add extra flavors to our dining experience at Shook!.
