[Oink Oink Food] Pink Belly @ Taman Bukit Pantai

We used to hang out a lot at our friends’ restaurant located at Taman Bukit Pantai few years back. But since my friend has decided to close it down we have never been there for years. Last week, hubby and I went there again for 1 reason: ‘jiak’! (Which means eat in Hokkien)
We heard of this new restaurant, Pink Belly which served divine porky meal and we all Chinese loves porky dish right, hence we decided to try it out.
We arrived the restaurant at around 7pm in a rainy evening. As usual, car park there was limited and we were lucky to find a spot at the back row of the shop. Push the familiar door we saw a mysterious black interior of Pink Belly. Definitely a great place to go with friends and family to chill and relax.
We were served some of Pink Belly’s signature dishes that night.

1)      Porky Penne Pasta (RM 24)
Pasta cooked in smoked bacon, honey ham cubes and mushrooms with spicy agile olio was a great combination especially for people who like spicy like us. For a mushroom lover like me, I do hope that it has more mushroom in it though.

2)      Roasted Pork Belly (RM 34)
Roasted pork belly was one of our favourite dishes of that night. The pork belly was served with roasted root vegetables and braised red cabbage with little bowl of honey BBQ sauce. The pork belly was crunchy outside and juicy inside, simply delicious!

3)      Porky Risotto (RM 25)
Served with wild mushrooms and garden vegetables, porky risotto was stir-fried till soft and tasty.  This is a great main for sharing because the risotto is quite filling.

4)      BBQ Sticky Pork Ribs (RM 75)

Another favourite dish of us is the BBQ sticky pork ribs. The big portion of pork ribs was slow cooked to perfection and served with the Chef’s special BBQ sauce. It also served with our favourite wedges and a small bowl of coleslaw, BBQ sticky pork ribs is one of the must have in Pink Belly.
5)      Grilled Pork Skewers (RM 26)
Our most favourite dish of the night goes to grilled pork skewers, which is served with roasted root vegetables and aromatic buttered basmati rice. It doesn’t looks attractive to me with its dark color but hey I was so wrong, the pork balls are very juicy and tender indeed! We can’t get enough of this!

6)      Pink Belly Salad (RM 24)
Pink Belly Salad is made of romaine lettuce, red cabbages, tomato cubes, watermelon, lychee and honey ham cubes. It was a bit oily to our like we guess it was due to the honey ham cubes.

7)      Special Vanilla Ice Cream (RM15.00)
Now, something new to us that night was the Pink Belly’s special vanilla ice cream. Double scoop of Vanilla Ice-Cream topped with smoked bacon slices, the salt and sweet combination is surprisingly good! Not only ladies love it, men like it too as it’s not too sweet but salty too.
Overall the food at Pink Belly taste great. However we thought that it was a bit too oily especially for the salad, pasta and risotto. Oh yeah they serves very nice drinks including fresh press juice, sparkling juice, tea and coffee.
