CHEEKAABOO Workshop - Swimming Babies and Safety @ The Parenthood

My parents always tell us not to play with water since we were kids. In fact, research shows that drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths, and 1000 children died from drowning everyday across ASIA. As parents of two girls, I am concern on their safety when it comes to swimming. I let them swim because it is good exercise but I will monitor them whenever they are in the pool
Do you know the water running sound is very attractive to babies? This was what Bryan Yap told us during the CHEEKAABOO Workshop - Swimming Babies and Safety workshop happened at The Parenthood Sunway Pyramid West last Saturday, 18th Mar 2017. Bryan Yap is a Swim Educator with 23 years teaching experience for young children and educating young parents on kids' safety swimming. We were lucky to attend this workshop and learnt a lot from Bryan for free.
It’s important to get our baby used to water early in their life, as early as new born. Of course we are not talking about bring new born to swim but to build their confident in water. Such as telling baby ‘baby name, ready, here we go’ and pour the water on his head. After that, reward the baby with praise to form their confident to water.
From 6 months onwards, its time to send our kids to a swimming school. Parents have to check if the swim school is licensed and the swimming instructors are certified trainer. Its better to choose on ground swimming pool as it is warmer than the sky pool.

Most importantly, choose a good swimwear for our babies and kids so that they could keep warm while in the water. CHEEKAABOO protective swimwear is made from 2mm quality neoprene, the material installs excellent insulating properties, which helps to trap water between the suits and the skin to create a layer of insulation from cold. It is also chlorine resistant and offers 100% UV Protection on covered areas while giving added buoyancy.
CHEEKAABOO protective swimwear has a variety of designs and colors, for the boys and girls from 6 months until 8 years old. What’s more, they are having some promotions and discounts at The Parenthood Sunway Pyramid West.

It was a great experience of how Bryan showed us with clear demonstration and lessons for parents on handling their children's safety on water with their care.
While the parents were focus on the workshop, the kids were having fun at ClayTime.my. They are having Kingston Clayart Contest for free to get a chance to win prizes worth RM500 only at The Parenthood, 1st floor, Sunway Pyramid West. My girls love the claying time a lot, where they learnt how to make the little Kingston. Wish them luck for winning some cool prizes from the contest ok.
We also had fun time at The Parenthood after the event. Thank you The Parenthood for organizing such a fabulous workshop for us during this school holiday.

They will be having Little Vive Green Market event on 25th and 26th Mar 2017, mark your calendar and bring your kids there for a fun filled day.
