Earth Hour 2017 @ Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur

Earth hour fell on last Saturday, 25th Mar 2017 from 8 to 9pm, have you joined the effort to protect our Earth? In fact, the Earth Hour was launched in Sydney, Australia by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in year 2007, and it has become a global annual event to call on each person, committee, business and government to inspire people to promote environmental conservation.

This year, Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur has joined billions around the World to ‘Switch Off’ for Earth Hour. Not only that it has switched off its non-essential lights from 8.30PM to 9.30PM last Saturday, it is also having the sustainability campaign name ‘Together We Can Make a Better World’ in support of Earth Hour 2017.
Collaborated with Raffles College of Higher Education and Kloth Cares by Kloth Lifestyle, the launch event was attended by Joseph Yeoh, Vice President of YTL Land & Development and YTL Hotels & Properties, Mr. Wan Azmawi bin Dato’ Wan Azmi, CEO of Raffles College of Higher Education and Mr. Woon Foo Wen, CEO of Green Tech Malaysia Alliances Sdn. Bhd. Representing Kloth Cares by Kloth Lifestyle.
Speaking at the launch event Joseph Yeoh, Vice President of YTL Land & Development and YTL Hotels & Properties said, ‘Lot 10 always support and participated in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. To protect our Mother Earth, everyone is responsible for reducing carbon emissions. We would like to encourage business partners and communities at large to join us and take action immediately. We strive to educate and inculcate the habit of sustainable living to the public so that it becomes an integral part of their lifestyle. By doing so, we hope to provide a better future for generations to come.’

Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur ‘Together We Can Make a Better World’ Event with numerous activities going on as below;
1)      Earth Hour lights’ switch off on Sat, 25th Mar 8.30pm to 9.30pm

2)      Green Furniture Design Exhibition by Raffles College of Higher Education
Date: From 23rd Mar 2017 till 2nds Apr 2017 at Concourse, Lot 10, free admission
Students from the Interior Design Faculty has proposed mall furniture based on the theme of Green and Sustainability, using recycled/recyclable material. The exhibition showcases students’ artwork presentation with final visual, conceptual development and sketches of their creations. Public is welcome to view and vote for their favourite piece by submitting vote entry at Lot 10 Cheerleader’s counter by 2nd Apr 2017, and the top three creations with the highest votes will be fabricated and placed within the mall.

3)      Recycle Bins Campaign
The mall has set up Recycle Bins on the Level G, Level 2 and Level 5 where public can drop off their pre-owned clothes, handbags, belts, linen and soft toys. This initiative by Kloth Cares helps the environment by creating less waste for landfills and less pollution through the reduction in manufacturing new clothes. All proceeds from the sale from this Recycle Bins campaign will be channelled to National Cancer Council (MAKNA), Malaysia Association for the Blind (MAB) and Recycle Community Malaysia Lestari (RCOMM Lestari).

4)      Green Energy Campaign
The mall promotes sustainable energy solution by introducing bicycle-powered charger where we can generate electricity through pedal power. The modified bicycles had been installed within the mall where shoppers can ride to charge their phones and mobile devices instantly.

5)      Super Lottie Tote Bag
To reduce usage of plastic bags, Lot 10 offers shoppers the Super Lottie Tote Bag which can be redeemed at the Cheerleader’s Counter, Level G when they spend RM 200 in not more than two combined receipts on the same day. One customer could redeem maximum 2 per day, while stocks last.

  1. What a meaningful event this was. I wished I could do something too but I was working and had to use the computer and lights!
