Tollyjoy's
Baby Day 2017 was all about all about nutrition for pregnant &
nursing mums and babies. Held at The Yellow Apron, PJ on 21 & 22
Jul 2017, Tollyjoy's Baby Day 2017 was a 2 days event that attended
by members of the media and parenting bloggers.
We
are happy to be a part of Tollyjoy's Baby Day once again this year.
Launched in Malaysia in year 2015 in collaboration with OrphanCARE,
Tollyjoy's Baby Day is a special day dedicated to appreciate babies
and to honour the significant journey as parents selflessly care and
provide for their precious ones. Tollyjoy's Baby Day emphasises the
importance of family, love and care to every child, including the
less fortunate.
This
year, Tollyjoy corporate has continued to team up with OrphanCARE
Foundation to host Tollyjoy's Baby Day 2017, which is Tollyjoy's
signature yearly initiative. Nutrition is important for pregnant &
nursing mums and babies, as they said "You are what you eat".
Not only is pregnancy nutrition essential for healthy foetal
development, eating a well-balanced, nutritious diet also helps to
build a strong foundation for the baby's healthy development in the
future.
"As
a manufacturer and marketer of baby care and mother care products
since 1971, Tollyjoy has receives the continued and steady support of
parents. Thus, Tollyjoy's Baby Day is a fitting platform for us to
demostrate our appreciation and to give back to them. This is the day
where we honour the important role parents play, as well as allow us
to delight in the precious little ones in our midst.
This
year, Tollyjoy's Baby Day turns our docus on nutrition, We believe
that whilst babies need plenty of love and affection, they also need
to have good and adequate nutrition from the very beginning to thrive
and reach their full potential," said Ms. Grace Ng, Manager of
Tollyjoy Corporation.
Datin
Rashidah Hashim, COO of OrphanCARE said,"The
aim of Tollyjoy's Baby Day is in line with what we stand for – to
give every child the chance to feel love and care in the security of
a family, and to celebrate babies in all possible ways. We are
pleased to be part of this initiative with Tollyjoy yet again and to
join hands in enhancing awareness among parents on the importance of
nutrition in promoting a healthy pregnancy and baby."
We
have also learnt something from Ms. Rozanna M. Rosly, Head of
Dietetics, University Malaya Specialist Centre at Tollyjoy's Baby Day
2017. She has shared about the importaance of nutrition for all
mothers-to-be, nursing mothers and babies. She said, "Pregnancy
is the one time in life that a mother's eating habits directly
affects another person. Mom's decision to incorporate delicious
vegetables, whole grains and legumes, lean protein and other healthy
food choices into their eating plan before and during pregnancy can
improve mom's fertility, keep them feeling healthy throughout, and
pave the way for an easier delivery. It also helps to establish the
building blocks of growth, giving babies a strong start in life."
She
advised that infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first
six months to achieve optimal growth, development and health. Nursing
mums must also place importance on their nutritional intake.
Thereafter, as babies’ nutritional requirements evolve, they should
receive nutritionally adequate and safe complementary food. Mums
should continue to breastfeed if possible.
Then,
we were treated to an interactive meal demonstration at the Tollyjoy
Baby Day 2017
celebration where Ms
Rozanna showed how fun it can be to prepare healthy yet delicious
meals at home. The tasty treats included Crunchy Fruits Layer made
with honeydew cubes layered with oats, low-fat yoghurt and strawberry
jam, and topped off with watermelon juice; Plum and Banana Oatmeal
Porridge; and Soybean Milk Smoothie prepared with fresh fruits. As
a mother of 2 girls, I love this simple, easy and fast to prepare
healthy recipe. My girl loved the crunchy fruits layer with honeydew
and the Soybean Milk Smoothie a lot.
At
the end of the demonstration, we
have also received a
handbook containing various other healthy and fun recipes for parents
and their babies.
The
event did not end just like that. Tollyjoy
has
also held games and
various activities which included a Baby Bingo Game and Lucky Draw to
add the excitement on Tollyjoy
Baby Day 2017.
We felt
excited and fun in the Baby Bingo Game as we were given some empty
boxes to write down the products, and crossed it when a randomly
choosed product is shouted out. The lucky
winners from
Baby Bingo Game and Lucky Draw have took
home hampers from Tollyjoy. Eventhough
once again we did not win anything, we still want to
congratulations to all winners.
Just
when we thought it was the end of Tollyjoy's
Baby Day 2017,
Media and bloggers
were invited
to a delicious high
tea before we
all went back with
Tollyjoy
goodie bag. Thanks
to Tollyjoy,
it was indeed
a fruitful day to learn about the importance of nutrition
for pregnant & nursing mums and babies as well as enjoyed some
quality time with other parenting bloggers.
