Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017 Grand Final: A Glittering Pearly Night

We were honoured to be invited to the Grand Final of Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017 held at Shangri-La Hotel not long ago. It was truly a night to the amazing women after married, to be crown as Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017.
The theme of the final was Glittering and Pearl, it was indeed a night of glitz and glamour featuring “A” list judges including Datin Maylene Yong, Datin Janet Yeoh, Dato Ruby Khong, Dato Mahadzir Lokman, Wan Ahmad, Amber Chia, Raechel Chong, Alina Wang and Master Yap Boh Chu and over 500 enthusiastic audience supporting their favourite queens live at the grand final.
Congratulations to Katrina Loo Siew Ling, 39, a beautiful mother of two children, she has crowned Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017 (below 40 years old) while the Classic category (over 40 years old) was won by Previtha Thiyagarajah, a charming mother of four children.
Open to Malaysian married women aged 25 and above, and categorised into Mrs (25 to 40 years old) and Classic (41 years old and above). The pageant saw about 22 finalists from aged 27 to 75 whom have put up their best show to win the hearts of the judges and audience. The champion will then represent Malaysia at the Mrs Tourism Queen International to be held in Malaysia on June 2018.
For the first time in Malaysia, Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017 was held by Sentinel Pageant after the company managed to convince world renowned franchise proprietor, ERM Marketing, that it has all the capabilities to manage this pageant. After all, the founder and director of Sentinel Pageant is Jenet Foo, winner of Mrs Malaysia World 2015 and other numerous titles.

In her welcome speech, the gorgeous Jenet paid tribute to ERM Marketing, all sponsors, judges, participants and their families for making the pageant a reality. It was also her dream to organise this pageant as a way to show her gratitude to what the community has given her.
The Grand Final was filled with much glitter with the parade of beauty ambassadors, magnificent cultural dance, enchanting LED dance, and mellifluous Angel (dubbed as Malaysian Tsai Chin) and famous singer-songwriter Reshmonu.

According to German tourist, Alexander Resch, “It was such a memorable night. Malaysia has so many fascinations and the Grand Final proves Malaysia is a land of fascinating beauty, full of beauty queens. I love everything I saw tonight, from the cultural shows to the catwalk of beauty queens. I can see everyone has put in so much effort to ensure the success of the Grand Final. Congratulations and well done to the organiser.”
The oldest finalist, Ng Hong Lian, aged 75 and a grandmother of 9 grandchildren, wowed the audience with her singing talent and determination on stage. In spite of her age, she put up a strong challenge with other contestants and was subsequently honoured with the Senior Classic title by the organiser and judges.
For the newly crowned champion, Katrina Loo, the title will further boost her determination to carry the Malaysian flag to the upcoming Mrs Tourism Queen International, which will also be held in Malaysia.

“I will do my best on the international stage and use my title to do charity and welfare. But as for now, I just need a good rest and to celebrate with my family and friends,” she says.

Previtha Thiyagarajah, the newly crowned Classic category Mrs Malaysia Tourism Queen 2017 shares the same sentiments.
“I was over the moon when they announced I won the Classic category because I always wanted to win this. The title will help me to contribute and help the underprivileged community. I must thank Jenet and everyone for this honour. The journey to the Grand Final has been such a wonderful one. I learned so much to boost my confidence and many other positive traits,” she adds.
