Qualitas: GP Clinics as First Line of Care for Mental Health

I believe that work is good for mental health but a negative working environment can lead to physical and mental health problems. It is sad to know that mental health issues in Malaysia is worrying. In response to this, homegrown and leading primary healthcare provider Qualitas Medical Group (‘Qualitas’) hosted a panel session to raise awareness and initiate robust discussions on mental health at the workplace. Themed, “Mental Health at the Workplace: The Unspoken Truth” was held at Sime Darby Convention Centre days ago.
It was a full house at the forum, the session was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) as well as Third Party Administrators, corporate and industrial leaders. Approximately 100 guests from the public and private sector, as well as civil society has attended the forum.
The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Puan Hannah Yeoh, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. In her keynote speech, Yang Berhormat Puan Hannah Yeoh emphasized the pressing need to reduce the stigma on mental health issues within the community and the important role that general practitioners can play as the first line of care on mental health. YB also shared that the mental health issues in the country is increasing and the age is getting younger. This is indeed a worrying issues in Malaysia.
Delivering a keynote address at the session, Chairman and Managing Director of Qualitas Medical Group, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Dr Noorul Ameen Mohamed Ishack said, “Mental health has been extensively discussed by key authorities, non-profit organisations for many years. Sadly, individuals suffering from depression and anxiety are reluctant to seek help as they fear the stigma of being stereotyped. The time has come for immediate practical actions to be taken by all stakeholders – The general practitioners should be empowered to play a more active and positive role in the management of mental health wellness; and for that, changes need to be made by the Government in empowering general practitioners to act as the gatekeeper on mental health.”

The Art of Position Book Launch @ Popular Flagship Store, IPC Shopping Centre

I love reading, and I read almost everyday while travelling on the train to work. They take us beyond our world and into someone else’s real or imaginary one. They satisfy the curiosity of the elusive “What if?”.
I was honored to be invited to The Art of Position Book Launch held at Popular Flagship Store, IPC Shopping Centre earlier today. There, we had learnt so much from the beautiful and kind-hearted author Datuk Stella Chin. She has shared so much about her wonderful experiences.
In her interpretation, the Chinese character of the word “Position” is written as , a combination of Human 人and Stand 立. This character blend can be interpreted as a “stand that dominates a person's action”.
In fact, everyone has their own position in a team. If you want to be in a better position, you have to work harder; if you want to change your position, you have to change your mindset; and if you want to be in a better position next year, you have to start investing yourself now. Your ambition has to be supported with new skills, improvements and talents.

Sun Life Malaysia Sets Malaysia Book of Records for Most Green Energy Generated with Sustainability Bicycle

As a mother of 2 lovely girls, I strongly believe in healthy and sustainable living. We only have one Earth and are utterly dependent on it for our survival and well-being. Hence, we should be leading a life that has little impact on the environment.
I am glad to know that Sun Life Malaysia Assurance Berhad and Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad (collectively Sun Life Malaysia), a life insurance and Family Takaful provider respectively, has spent a year-long efforts in championing healthy and sustainable living to empower Malaysians to live healthier and brighter lives, and earned a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records.

Set during Sun Life Malaysia’s three-day #AHealthierEarth event at Publika Shopping Gallery, the remarkable record was for “Most Green Energy Generated with Sustainability Bicycle”. Throughout 2019, the Company placed sustainability bicycles at all its Brighter Lives Roadshows in shopping malls and key events which saw more than 7000 Malaysians pedalling away to generate a total of 2,500 Wh of electricity.
The energy generated are then converted into monetary value amounting to RM2,750 to assist HOPE worldwide Malaysia (HOPE), a charity organisation that focuses on helping the urban poor community, with their center’s electricity expenses.

DKSH Spreads Fun with Skippy On The World Sandwich Day 2019

Do you know that today, 3rd November 2019 is World Sandwich Day? I personally believed that the best way to pay ode to the occasion is by DIY sandwiches and eating it! Sandwiches are simple in the sense that the only rule you truly have to follow to make a sandwich is that you need to put something in between two slices of bread. But great sandwiches constitute more than just an ordinary PB&J (peanut butter and jelly). Great sandwiches balance protein, dairy, vegetables, sauces and bread into a perfect food item.
Thanks to DKSH Business Unit Consumer Goods, the leading Market Expansion Services provider for Fast Moving Consumer Goods in Asia, and DIY Bites Studio for organizing a fun and fantastic sandwich making session with SKIPPY® Peanut butter at Setia City Mall earlier today.
Invited media and guests got to learn from the nine-year-old culinary prodigy Chef Leah Choy as well as the experienced Chef Jie Low. With inspirational recipes specially created by the culinary experts at Skippy and DIY Bites Studio, we were treated to a hands-on experience on how to transform an everyday sandwich into a gourmet dish by incorporating the delicious and smooth taste of Skippy peanut butter. It was so fun to make our own sandwiches.

“Sandwiches are a staple in any household or restaurant today. This versatile, on-the-go and easy-to-make food can be a balanced meal because it can include meat, vegetables, dairy products and sometimes even fruits. We share Skippy’s passion in inspiring people and are happy to celebrate this occasion with their iconic peanut butter brand,” explained Chua Chong Hoon, Vice President, FMCG, DKSH Malaysia.
