In conjunction with the grand opening of Taiwan Expo in Malaysia 2021 Online on 4 Aug 2021, James C.F. Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, Cynthia Kiang, Director General of Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan (R.O.C) , Sharon Ho Swee Peng, President of Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre, Taipei and Sharimahton Mat Saleh, deputy CEO of MATRADE were present with a sit down together “kopi” session discussed about the future of Taiwan-Malaysian cooperation.

We heard from James Huang that under the influence of the pandemic and the China-US trade war, the global supply chain has to be restructured. As a strong base electronic machinery and semiconductor manufacturing coupled with its key location as the manufacturing center of Southeast Asia, it has makes Malaysia an important strategic ally. With that, he hopes that Taiwan Expo will generate greater economic benefits for bilateral trade relations between Taiwan and Malaysia.
The guests were honoured to have James Huang as the tour guide of the expo, interacting with virtual characters in the 3D exhibition hall. In fact, the virtual tour is the highlight of this year’s Taiwan Expo, presenting viewers a novel experience, different from prior exhibitions.

We were amazed by the new 3D online exhibition hall which was designed to give visitors an experience akin to being at the exhibition in person. It was informative and simple to access, interested buyers only need to register as a member of the TAITRA in order to access the virtual exhibition hall and its features, making it no different from visiting an on-ground event. It provides buyers with a one-stop sourcing platform and therefore greater convenience.
In addition to the one-to-one online business matching sessions during the three-day exhibition period, the digital exhibition will continue to be live for one month, allowing those who were unable to attend during the exhibition to peruse it after.

This year, the Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Committee, Chiayi, returned due to the positive response they received in the previous year. Their participation this year included 15 local merchants aiming to broaden their horizons in the Malaysian market. Their exhibited products ranged from local foods to daily necessities, such as Little Couples’ Dry Noodle, Saint Paul’s Alishan Q Cake, Raw Hand’s Antibacterial Betel Nut Soap, Harvest Cosmetic’s Automatic Soap Dispenser, Chiayo Electronics’ Wireless Microphones and more.
