LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort Partners with Malaysian Ministries to Drive Educational Tourism Efforts

Building on Malaysia’s key educational tourism destinations, key Malaysian ministries have announced the strengthening of their partnership with LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort. To celebrate this momentous occasion, LEGOLAND Malaysia has launched the Planet LEGOLAND Education Initiative which will drive a series of activities encouraging educational field trips and school tours to LEGOLAND Malaysia and Johor.

“With the joint effort of the government and private institutions such as LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, we hope to reinvigorate tourism activities in Malaysia and subsequently contributing to a faster economic recovery. We have identified strategic locations throughout Malaysia to seek opportunities to help them drive visitations, benefitting the destination and the community around them such as LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort,” said YB Datuk Seri Dr. Santhara J.P., Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia.

The partnership will draw active involvement and support across federal and state government departments, including the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), Johor Tourism, Johor State Education Department and Iskandar Puteri.

“With our continuous effort to strengthen and develop local destination, we are priming the country to welcome international tourists when the borders reopen on April 1st and future-proof the industry by building resilience,” YB Datuk Seri Dr. Santhara J.P. added.
Starting the initiative with a strong activation, LEGOLAND Malaysia will be announcing the Planet LEGOLAND School Challenge, where school children can unleash their imagination and immerse themselves in an interactive build experience. Through this challenge, participants can let their creativity lead the way and build the world of their dreams with LEGO. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, students who participate in the Planet LEGOLAND School Challenge can count their participation towards their co-curricular activities.
“In addition to revitalising edu-tourism in Johor and preparing for our international guests, LEGOLAND Malaysia is committed to supporting the Ministry of Education’s drive to revive cross-curricular learning among school children. After the last two years of being in a restricted learning environment, the need for an outdoor classroom is greater than ever. We want to be part of the solution to help children express their creativity, master new skills, and grow their learning capabilities,” said CS Lim, Divisional Director at LEGOLAND.

“Education is at the heart of what we do here, backed by our LEGO® DNA of building creativity through play. The launch of Planet LEGOLAND Education Initiative marks our commitment to offer a robust learning centre that stimulates our children’s curiosity, with our MoE endorsed programs such as SEA LIFE Malaysia Education Programme and English Mania,” CS continues.
