Since the opening of Loong Cafe’s first outlet in Bandar Mahkota Cheras about a year ago, its authentic Hong Kong styled delicacies and interior have attracted a lot of attention. Artiste Jack Lim was impressed with the sincerity of the founders about the flavours and operational plan, and took the initiative to work with them with the aim to grow Loong Cafe as the largest Hong Kong restaurant chain in Malaysia.
After a year of planning and hard work, Loong Cafe has finally opened in a shopping mall. Jack Lim said that opening a restaurant in a shopping mall is not an easy task. Other than high standards of fire prevention, sewage system and cleanliness, the most important aspect is the popularity of the brand. "The fact that we can open the third branch in a popular shopping mall like 1 Utama Shopping Centre is also the best brand recognition of Loong Cafe in the Malaysian food & beverage industry."
To celebrate the new milestone of Loong Cafe since its establishment, Jack Lim and the two founders held a grand and exciting opening ceremony this morning. Other than having good friend Jeff Chin to host the opening ceremony, Dreamax artistes JieYing, Joey Leong and Joshua Fung also performed classic Cantopop songs from 1980s and 1990s, giving the guests an even more immersive Hong Kong retro atmosphere at Loong Cafe.
In addition, Loong Cafe also invited 18 auspicious lions from Yi Ming Lion Art (formerly known as Kuala Lumpur Kun Seng Keng Lion Dance) to the opening ceremony. Jack Lim pointed out that this is also the first large-scaled performance of Yi Ming Lion Art after its withdrawal from the Malaysian Kun Seng Keng Lion Dance Federation. Accompanied by the deafening drumbeats and ribbon-cutting ceremony by VIP Ms Teo Chui Ping of 1 Utama Shopping Mall, the founders and shareholders, Loong Cafe 1 Utama Shopping Centre was officially opened for business.
In conjunction with the opening of the new outlet, Loong Cafe also announced at the opening ceremony that all ONECARD members will enjoy 10% discount when they dine at Loong Cafe, starting today until 31st December 2022. For diners who spend RM30 or more, they will also get a free Loong Cafe’s ice cream.
Jack Lim also revealed that before the opening of Loong Cafe of 1 Utama Shopping Centre, XL Chadon at Mid Valley Megamall also opened for business last month. "XL Chadon is a small kiosk, mainly selling simple foods and beverages such as pineapple buns, milk tea and others, which are convenient for customers to buy and take away."
Elaborated further by Jack Lim, he has also announced that Loong Cafe will open new outlets at IOI City Mall and Genting Sky Avenue in December. Franchise opportunities will be available next year and welcome food & beverage industry enthusiasts to join the big family of Loong Cafe. "Our goal is to open 16 to 20 Loong Cafe outlets across different states in Malaysia next year. Everyone will have the opportunity to truly savour authentic Hong Kong taste."
HONG KONG’S RED AND WHITE “TAXI” AS THE HIGHLIGHT
Loong Cafe 1 Utama Shopping Centre spans an area of 3,000 square feet and can accommodate 140 diners. The design features reminisce cafe interior with ceiling fans, retro tiles, wooded tables and booth seating. Dark green is main tone of the cafe, using iron brown wooden strips as partitions and a large number of mirrors to make the space looks even bigger, this is the only difference from the small space of the cafes in Hong Kong.
In terms of decoration, other than colourful neon signs, retro advertisement billboards, antiques and records were also used to allow diners to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Hong Kong cafe. The highlight of this Loong Cafe would be the red and white “taxi” in front of the outlet. Since Hong Kong does not export this "taxi", Loong Cafe specially found the exact same car model from Japan, repainted and placed it at the entrance of the store for diners to take pictures. Jack Lim smiled and said that this is definitely the most expensive parking lot at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
MUST-TRY AUTHENTIC HONG KONG DELICACIES
Loong Cafe aims to serve authentic tastes of Hong Kong, hence the team visited several places in Hong Kong before opening and handpicked foods and beverages of Hong Kong cafe. Further improvements and innovations were made based on Malaysians’ palate. Using good quality ingredients as the foundation, combined with the most traditional raw materials and precise operating techniques to enhance the flavours.
As the spokesperson, Jack Lim strongly recommends that everyone must try the following delicacies of Loong Cafe:
