During this period, Sunway Putra Hotel hosted heart-warming Buka Puasa event with close to 100 children and their caregivers from three different homes on 18 April 2023. In addition, the hotel distributed thousands of packed Bubur Lambuk to motorist and pedestrians on the way home from work.
As part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts and alignment with Sunway Group’s commitment to advancing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, both CSR activities are part of the #SunwayforGood initiative that sits under the group’s corporate responsibility umbrella - its aim is to promote sustainability and social inclusion.
Across 2 days, hotel volunteers gathered in the kitchen - following strict hygiene protocols - to prepare 1,000 packed Bubur Lambuk and distributed the packed Bubur Lambuk to enthusiastic motorist and pedestrians along Jalan Putra in the rain and under the scorching sun. In addition, through the hotel’s collaboration with the group’s Raya Cheer 2023 campaign - a total of 1,200 Bubur Lambuk and 200 packed meals were distributed to various patrons of Masjid Abu-Ubaidah Al Jarrah in Taman Sri Rampai, Kuala Lumpur, local community heroes from various police and bomba stations and nutritional meals for those in need at Anjung Singgah YKN and Pusat Transit Gelandanga KL.
Bringing festive cheer to underprivileged communities is one of Sunway Putra Hotel’s cherish traditions. This year, the hotel organised a memorable and cherished Buka Puasa with close to 100 children and their caregivers at the hotel’s Coffee House. The children came from three homes, namely, Rumah Penyayang Nur Iman, Pertubuhan Rahoma Darul Fakir and Rumah Permata Hatiku, Setapak, all located in Kuala Lumpur.
“Through spreading joy and compassion during Ramadan, we hope our contribution to the communities brings them hope and comfort,” said Sunway Putra Hotel Senior, General Manager, Wilfred Yeo.
Enthusiastic hotel staff, came together to create an unforgettable experience for the children. The event commenced with a traditional iftar meal, where the children were treated to a scrumptious spread of delicious Indonesian and local food. Additionally, the children were also given a stationary kit and duit raya each during the event.
