In a pioneering effort, Sunplay has pledged to donate RM1 from every purchase of Sunplay Ultra Eco-Safe UV Lotion and other outdoor sunscreens sold at Watsons throughout September. This collective effort has successfully raised RM40,000, which will be used to restore vital marine ecosystems by planting coral fragments, essential for sustaining the diverse marine life of Tioman Island.
Lim Mei Yuen, General Manager of Rohto-Mentholatum (M) Sdn Bhd, expressed her enthusiasm for this expanded conservation initiative and her gratitude for the partnerships that made it possible.
“We are thrilled to elevate our ‘Sending Love & Care to the Ocean’ initiative by collaborating with Reef Check Malaysia in a project that not only rehabilitates coral reefs but also engages the local community. This partnership embodies our enduring dedication to protecting these invaluable marine habitats,” Lim Mei Yuen remarked.

Coral reefs, often referred to as the "rainforests of the sea," are vital to the health of marine ecosystems. They provide habitat for countless marine species, protect coastlines from erosion, and support local economies through tourism and fishing. However, these essential ecosystems are under unprecedented threat from climate change, pollution, and human activities, making conservation efforts increasingly critical.
As part of the rehabilitation project, Sunplay and local islanders planted 400 coral fragments on Tioman Island. The initiative involved 15 local islanders, providing them with training and job opportunities in reef conservation, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the community.
This effort is not a one-time event; the commitment to coral rehabilitation continues as local islanders monitor the new corals to ensure their growth and survival, highlighting the importance of sustained conservation efforts for the well-being of our oceans.
INTRODUCING SUNPLAY ULTRA ECO-SAFE UV LOTION
In tandem with its conservation efforts, Sunplay is proud to introduce the Sunplay Ultra EcoSafe UV Lotion, a reef-friendly sunscreen that offers superior protection for both your skin and the ocean. This 100% physical sunscreen is free from harmful chemicals such as Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, which studies have shown to damage coral reefs.
The lotion features non-nano zinc oxide particles that form a protective barrier on the skin, reflecting UV rays without causing harm to marine life. Enhanced with InvisShield Technology, it ensures a lightweight, non-white cast, setting it apart from other physical sunscreens. Sunplay Ultra Eco-Safe UV Lotion not only offers comprehensive protection against UVA/UVB, Blue Light, and Infrared Light but also incorporates EcoProtect Technology to safeguard our precious marine ecosystems.
With this new product and ongoing CSR initiatives, Sunplay continues to lead the way in creating a healthier future for our oceans.
