RZV will initially be available in Malaysia to adults aged 50 and over and those aged 18 and over who are at increased risk of HZ.

RZV is a vaccine designed to prevent shingles in adults aged 50 years and over and 18 years and over who are at increased risk in countries where the indication for this population has been approved.i RZV is also approved for adults aged 18 and over who are at increased risk of HZ.i Immunocompromised individuals are at greater risk of shingles and associated complications and RZV is a shingles vaccine approved for this at-risk patient population.

In an analysis of the pivotal efficacy studies, ZOE-50, RZV demonstrated vaccine efficacy of up to 97%iin adults 50 years and above, over a follow-up period of approximately three years.i, Recent interim data demonstrated overall vaccine efficacy of RZV of greater than 80% over the primary follow-up period approximately six to 10 years after initial vaccination in people 50 years and over.

Dr. Alap Gandhi, Country Medical Director of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical Sdn Bhd (GSK) Malaysia said: “Shingles is a disease that can cause excruciating pain and is caused by the reactivation of the varicella zoster virus. RZV has been designed to boost the immune response to the virus in people aged 50 and over or in those with immunocompromised conditions.” He concluded, “We are pleased that people in Malaysia will now have access to the RZV vaccine to help reduce the burden of this painful disease.”

AmHope by AmLife - A CSR-Driven Rehabilitation & Regenerative Centre

Renowned Sleep health specialist AmLife International marks its 10th anniversary celebration with the debut of its unique rehabilitation and regenerative centre driven by CSR recently.
AmHope is located at Lot No. B-G-03A & 05, Eight Kinrara, Block B, Jalan BK 5a/1, Bandar Kinrara, 47180 Puchong, Selangor

The United Nations has projected Malaysia to become an aged nation by 2030, with 15 % of the population comprising the elderly. As societal aging intensifies, healthcare costs rise, further increasing the burden on society. Therefore, the health status of seniors requires urgent attention.

Seniors face various age-related issues such as muscle loss (Sarcopenia), cardiovascular setbacks as well as stroke. Globally, 15 million people suffer from stroke each year. In Malaysia, degenerative diseases are on the rise, with stroke ranking as the third most common cause of death with an estimated 50,000 new stroke cases annually. Research indicates that up to 80% of strokes are preventable through lifestyle changes, including quality sleep and proper healthcare interventions.

The National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2019 highlighted that individuals with insomnia have a 30% higher chance of developing cardiovascular issues, including stroke. Quality sleep is key to repair and regenerate the body, which would cushion cardiovascular and degenerative diseases.

Founder and President of AmLife Mr. Lew Mun Yee

During the grand opening of AmHope, a CSR-Driven rehabilitation & regenerative centre, the Founder and President of AmLife Mr. Lew Mun Yee shared that the company has helped countless people regain their health over the past decade through its sleep health education and healthcare solutions. “During this journey, we discovered that sleep disorders can affect cardiovascular health, thereby increasing the risk of stroke. Stroke is not just an individual problem; but one that cripples families physically and financially.

“To mark AmLife's 10th anniversary, we are investing RM1.4 million to establish AmHope – a rehabilitation and regenerative centre designed to help seniors overcome the challenges of stroke and other physical health issues, enabling them to live a dignified and quality life. AmHope represents a significant advancement in stroke rehabilitation and a beacon of hope for those facing these challenges.
I am impressed with the great CSR innitiative by AmLife International

The 90 days following a stroke are a critical period for brain recovery, and engaging in rehabilitation during this time significantly increases the chance of full recovery. Unfortunately, many stroke patients miss this crucial window due to financial constraints, resulting in lasting physical impairments. To address this issue, AmLife offers substantial financial aid to assist stroke patients facing such challenges. Patients who present a hospital medical report of their stroke can receive physiotherapy for only RM30 per session (normal market rate is RM150 per session). This 80% financial relief also applies to all equipment and high-function treatments at the centre.
